MRS. BERTHA LITZOW.
TARAMPA, September 18.
At the home of her daughter. Mrs. O. Wenck, Coolana, recently Mrs. Bertha Litzow died after a few years' ill-health. The late Mrs. Litzow was 88 years of age. She was born in Berlin, Germany, and she married Mr. Albert Behm, also of Germany. After a few years' married life in their native land the couple came to Australia to take up land and make their home at Minden. At that time all the country was dense scrub, and much labour was needed to establish a home and make a living. Mr. and Mrs. Behm were engaged in farming at Minden. Mr. Behm died after 42 years of married life, leaving five children, one child having died. Those still living are: Mr. Albert Behm (Murgon), Mrs. Wenck, (Coolana), Mrs. G. Neuendorf (Minden). Mrs. Lowes, and Mrs. Purcell (Laidley). Later Mrs. Behm married Mr. Fred. Litzow, a native of Poland. Mr. Litzow died about 20 years ago. The late Mrs. Litzow lived with her daughter, Mrs. O. Wenck (Coolana) for 16 years, and often visited old German friends in the district. About 18 months ago Mrs. Litzow had a stroke, which laid her up, and she received another a few months before her death. The funeral left St. John's Lutheran Church, Hillside, for the Hillside Cemetery. Pastor R. T. Rohde, Hatton Vale, officiated at the graveside.
