    • St. Therera's Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on September 19, when Betty Florence, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Cairns, was married to Noel, third son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Flint.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in her frock of lace over slipper satin, with an underskirt of pale pink tulle. The bodice featured a tiny peaked collar and was opened down the front with tiny loops and buttons. The skirt fell into a graceful train and the hemline was finished with a dainty edging of pleated tulle. Short gloves of nylon and lace were worn and the three-tiered tulle veil was mounted on a small juliet cap of lace and lily of the valley. She carried a sheaf of white and pale pink gladioli arranged with white ribbon and wore a cameo brooch belonging to her mother.

The bridesmaid, Miss Marjorie Cairns, sister of the bride, was frocked in white. Her embroidered Swiss organdie bodice was made on similar lines to the bride's frock, with a skirt of two layers of flared tulle. She added a small floral toque of lilac and matching gloves and carried a sheaf of cyclamen and orchid pink gladioli. The bridegroom's brother, Ken, attended as best man.

During the signing of the register a solo was rendered by Miss Ida Kennedy, the organist being Miss T. Liddy.

Seventy guests attended the reception, which was held at the Old Grammarians' Club, and they were received by Mrs. Cairns, who was assisted by Mrs. Flint. Mrs Cairns was frocked in pale blue, which featured diagonal pin tucking, and she added a burgundy hat, and black accessories. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Flint, chose a pale pink sheer frock, with which she allied a pink hat and black accessories.

During the reception music was supplied by Miss Irene Fenlon and drummer and a feature of the supper tables was the three-tiered cake made by the bridegroom's mother.

When leaving for the honeymoon, which was spent at Cairns and the Tableland, the bride wore a pale blue crepe frock and a small pini hat with gloves to match. [3]
