    • SAPPER A. G. STEELE, husband of Mrs Steele, of 89 South Street, Rockhampton, who served with the Royal Engineers abroad, was killed in action on October 28, 1942. Prior to his enlistment he was engaged on main roads work at Thangool. Sapper Steele was well known and respected and gave material assistance to all patriotic functions in the Callide Valley, especially at Lawgi, where he lived before enlisting. Mrs Steele has a son serving in the Artillery.
