WEDDING AT EVANDALE. The marriage of Mr. William Rochford Waller, second son of Mr. Walter Waller, of Aukland, New Zealand, and Leila Alice, eldest daughter of Mr. E. Atkins, Everton Villa, Evandale, took place at the Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon. The church was artistically decorated with white flowers by the friends of the bride, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. M. Lawther (Launceston). The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome gown of cream silk, the skirt slightly trained, trimmed with bebe ribbon and Valenciennes lace; the bodice had a front of tucked silk and Valenciennes lace, also trimmed with bebe ribbon kimono braces, finished with lovely silk insertion; a tulle veil fastened with a coronet of orange blossom and shower bouquet tied with white satin ribbon completed the costume. The bridesmaids were the Misses Ethel and Alice Atkins, sisters of the bride. They wore pretty gowns of white floral muslin, yoke of embroidery, trimmed with Valenciennes lace and bebe ribbon, with lilies of the valley in the hair; white bouquets, tied with pink ribbon. Mr. R. Purdy acted as best man and Mr. A. Atkins (brother of the bride) as groomsman. As the bride entered the church "How Welcome was the Call" was sung by those present, and the "Wedding March" was played by Mrs. J. Gough (Launceston) as the bridal party left. After the ceremony about 40 guests sat down to a wedding tea at the residence of the bride's father. "The Bride and Bridegroom" was proposed by the Rev. J. Russell, and responded to by the bridegroom; "The Bridesmaids," by the Rev, M. Lawther," and responded to by the best man (Mr R. Purdy). Shortly after 6 o'clock, amid showers of rice and good wishes, Mr. and Mrs. Waller left for their future home in Launceston. The bride travelled in a grey tweed dress, with cream yoke and kimono straps trimmed with silk braid to match; white hat, trimmed with tulle, white ostrich feathers, and pink roses; she also wore a set of grey foxaline furs, the gift of her father. The presents were numerous and beautiful, and included, amongst others, a cheque from the Hon. J. W. and Mrs. Cheek, also a handsome clock presented to the bridegroom by Messrs. Russell and Sons (Launceston), and a dinner service by their employees. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold chain, and to the bridesmaids a gold pendant and lucky bell. In the evening about 50 guests, mostly young people, were entertained by Miss Ethel Atkins at her father's residence. [2]
