On June 2 Atunga, the home of Mr and Mrs R. Nielsen was the scene of a very pretty wedding of great interest to Dululu and district, as it united two of the longest resident and most popular families. The participating parties were Dulcie Laura, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Nielsen, and Bert, elder son of Mr and Mrs T. Barnes. The bride made a strikingly pretty picture as she entered the room with her father, who gave her away. "The Wedding March" was played by Mrs A. Gudman. The Rev. Fletcher, Mt Morgan, was the officiating minister, and during the signing of the register a solo, "Because,'" was rendered by Miss Eva Shepherd. The bride's frock was of silver thread crepe made on close-fitting lines, ankle-length, the high neckline and full sleeves featuring latticework. Her silk tulle veil was held in position by a diamante bandeau and small sprays of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white woodpulp roses and frangipani arranged with ferns, and tied with white satin ribbon.

The bride was attended by Miss Eileen Bond as bridesmaid, who chose blush pink uncrushable corded crepe, ankle-length, with a centre front and backline showing shirring, which was repeated in the short sleeves. The neckline was finished with a blush pink spray. She wore a spray of silver flowers on her head and silver shoes, and carried a bouquet of pink woodpulp rosebuds and ferns, tied with pink satin ribbon. Both bouquets were the work of the bride's mother.

The bride's mother was gowned in navy blue corded crepe de chine featuring a military effect and finished with navy and white buttons, and she wore a felt hat to match. The bridegroom's mother chose blue floral uncrushable crepe de chine, made on straight lines with a shirred jabot of mastic crepe de chine at the neckline and a felt hat to tone.

The breakfast room was very effectively decorated with pink and white paper streamers, and the tables with pink and white roses and arum lilies. The main feature of the table was the beautiful three-tiered wedding cake surmounted by a kewpie, which was made and decorated by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom. The place cards were also held in place by dainty little kewpies.

The Rev. Fletcher presided at the breakfast, and the usual toasts were honoured.

Mr D. Barnes, the bridegroom's brother, undertook the duties of best man.

The bridegroom's present to the bridesmaid was a fitted evening bag, and the bride and groom exchanged suitable gifts. The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful and valuable presents, including cheques. The honeymoon is being spent in Rockhampton and Yeppoon, the bride's travelling dress being wine-coloured tree-lark, trimmed with stitchings and matching buttons, and worn with a felt hat to tone.

A reception was held during the evening, during which numerous items were rendered. A singing contest proved most enjoyable, and Mr T. Barnes, securing the greatest number of votes, was declared the winner, with Mr E. Harris a close second. [4]
