Sept 1948
Lerch-Prufert.- At the Hatton Vale Lutheran Church Pastor R. T. Rohde officiated at the wedding of Dora Violet youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Prufert, Summerholm to Lloyd George, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Lerch, Morton Vale. As the bride entered the church with her father the Bridal March was played by Mrs. R. T. Rohde. The bride's gown was of allover lace with a full train. The full length embroidered Brussels net veil was lent by Mrs. J. Hanlon (Forest Hill). It was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. The bride also wore a stone pendant, a gift from the bridegroom. The bouquet consisted of white and pale pink roses finished with sacred bamboo and tied with long white satin ribbon.
Miss Betty Burchmann bridesmaid, was frocked in pink waterwave taffeta and wore shoulder length heart-shaped net veil, and mittens to match she also wore diamond-studded ear clips (gift of the bridegroom), and carried a bouquet of pink roses tied with pink satin ribbon.
Mr. Norm. Prufert was best man. The bouquets were made by Mrs. M. J. Schmidt, Laidley. On leaving the church the bride was presented with three horseshoes from Evelyn Burchmann, Tommy Woods, and Serophene Gehrke.
At the reception at King's boarding-house, Laidley, the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore navy crepe romaine relieved with a pink lace shoulder yoke, and a matching spray. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who chose a frock of black moss crepe set with silver spangles and a shoulder spray of pansies pinned with a diamante clip, with black accessories. A feature of the bride's table was a three-tier wedding cake. Pastor R. T. Rohde presided at the reception. Leaving for the honeymoon, Mrs. Lerch wore a frock of blue printed crepe-de-Chine and black accessories. The couple will reside at Morton Vale. [3]
