Our Minden Letter.
FAREWELL AND PRESENTATION.
The residence of Mr. E. Beduhn was, last Tuesday evening, the scene of a pleasing function, the occasion being a farewell and presentation tendered to Mr. A. E. Behm, who has spent nearly all his life in this centre in dairying and farming pursuits, but who has recently disposed of his valuable farm to Mr. F. Zable at a very satisfactory price, and who is leaving to-day en route for Wondai, where he selected land about nine months ago. The many friends Mr. Behm had won here by his obliging and good-natured disposition and by his keen interest in musical matters soon took steps to furnish him with some token of their goodwill. The members of Minden String Band, of which Mr. Behm was the founder and conductor, held a special meeting last Sunday night to decide what should be done to tender Mr. Behm with some recognition of their esteem. On Tuesday night, as above stated, the members of the band and other well-wishers took their seats in Mr. Beduhn's dining-room, where several musical items were played and pastimes engaged in pending the arrival of Mr. Behm and his family. On their entrance they were heartily welcomed. About 10 p.m. an adjournment was made to the beautifully decorated verandah. The company were soon seated. Mr. Max R. Sakrzewski presided, having on his right the guest of the evening ; and after ample justice had been done to the good things provided, Mr. Max Sakrewski, in a felicitous speech, said that they were all aware that the function was being held on the eve of Mr. Behm's departure. Minden could not lose a better friend than Mr. Behm, and he had much pleasure, on behalf of the Minden String Band and others present that night, in presenting Mr. Behm with a shaving outfit of six pieces. He trusted that Mr. Behm would cherish that small token as a reminder of the many friends he was leaving. He then asked the company to charge their glasses and drink the health of the departing guest, which was done with musical honours. Mr. Behm, who was accorded prolonged applause, said that he could not find words adequate to express his most sincere thanks for the kind invitation which was tendered to him to be present that night amongst many friends. He wished to convey his sincere thanks, on behalf of his good wife and family, for the beautiful present given him, and he trusted that, every time he looked in the mirror part of the shaving outfit he would be able to see the faces of his old dear friends at Minden. Mr. Behm resumed his seat amidst prolonged acclamation. Mr. O. Millewski made some very kind remarks regarding Mr. Behm and his many kind ways. The company then devoted their attention to music, &c., until midnight, when, after a good handshake all round for Mr. Behm and family and the offering of many congratulations and good wishes, the night's enjoyment terminated. The shaving outfit had been purchased from Messrs. Cribb and Foote, Ipswich.

Notes |
- Albert first had a farm at Minden, then in 1911 the Minden farm was sold and the family moved to a property near Wondai. They took the cattle and horses to the new farm and it is said it took a fortnight of droving from Minden to Wondai. In later years, Therese and her daughter Ethel lived in Murgon where Ethel had a hairdressing salon. In 1948 they sold the house and salon and moved to Nanango. [Source: Win Brighton]
