BURRUMBUTTOCK
(From Our Correspondent).
The curtain was rung down on the Central Hume Football Association on Saturday last at Jindera, when the two leading clubs, Burrumbuttock and Jindera, played the grand final, and after a fairly evenly contested game Burrumbuttock ran out winners, the final scores being: Jindera, 5 goals 15 behinds; Burrumbuttock, 9 goals 11 behinds. The central umpire supplied by the Victorian League was very fair in his decisions. A general meeting of the playera and supporters was held in the local hall on Tuesday last to discuss and make arrangements for the banquet, which is to be held on September 26. Several hams and turkeys were promised, and by the enthusiasm shown it augurs well for success, and a right royal time is being looked forward to.

Residence |
Between 1940 and 1990 |
Mitchelton, Queensland, Australia |
102 McConaghy Street |
Douglas bought a house at 102 Kedron Ave, Mitchelton about 1940. It was bought unfinished, and Douglas finished building it, and added extensions to it twice. He lived there until his death. In about 1956 the name of the street was changed to McConaghy Street after the Mitchelton station master at the time. Previously, Kedron Ave ran from Samford Road to the station, then resumed beyond the station.

Douglas first worked for the Marberete Co at Victoria Park, Herston, building Camp Victoria Park which was built to accommodate all of the logistical support for the American forces who had come to Brisbane after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. The camp consisted of a large number of pre-fabricated buildings which stretched from Herston Road across the park to Gregory Terrace.
