- AUGUSTE JOSEFSKI
The death occurred at her residence, Baffle Creek, on Thursday evening last of a highly esteemed resident of the district in the person of Mrs Josefski, senr., wife of Mr A Josefski. The deceased lady was fifty years of age, a native of Germany. She came to Queensland with her husband thirty-two years ago, settling in the Rosewood district for several years, subsequently coming to Bingera, where a few years were spent. Some twelve months ago Mrs Josefski contracted an illness, which made rapid progress on her once robust constitution. Although the best of medical skill was sought in Maryborough and Bundaberg it was of no avail. On the Tuesday previous to her death, she visited Bundaberg for medical attention, returning the same day, but the shock was too great for her strength, and, as stated, she passed peacefully away on Thursday last. The deceased lady was of a kindly disposition and cheerful to the last, always ready and willing to give a helping hand to her neighbours. Her personality and good work among the first settlers in the district will ever be remembered. The funeral took place on Saturday and the esteem in which the deceased was held was testified to by the large attendance. Mr Kleinschmidt, of the Baffle Creek sugar mill, kindly placed three motor launches, and Mr W Cross also loaned his motor launch to convey the mourners. The deceased is survived by her husband and a grown-up family of eight sons and three daughters to mourn their sad loss. The burial service was performed by Mr H Kirchner.
