Tobacconist A. R. Potter Dies
Well known in Perth's tobacco trade, Mr Alfred Richard Potter, of 5 Hill Street, South Perth, died in Perth Hospital early today. He had been ill for some weeks.
Mr Potter was a member of a family widely known in Western Australia, particularly in Northam. He was in business in Perth for many years and was president of the W.A. Retail Tobacco Association. His tobacconist shop was in C.M.L. Buildings, St George's Terrace.
He came from Wangaratta, Victoria, with his parents about 50 years ago and has lived here since, except for four years' war service overseas in the last war. He was with the 28th Battalion, was a member of the South Perth sub-branch of the R.S.L.
At one time he was a leading rifle shot in this State.
He is survived by a widow, two sons, one of whom is with the A.I.F. and the other lately discharged, and a daughter.
Funeral will be on Monday.
