    • OBITUARY.
      MR. FREDERICK C. DUHS.
Former Peachester Pioneer Farmer. Mr. Frederick Casper Duhs, one of Peachester's earliest pioneers, died in the Maleny Hospital at the week-end at the age of 74. He was born on a sailing ship in the course of its voyage from Europe to Australia. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Duhs, first settled at Brassall, in the Ipswich district, and later they helped to pioneer the Rosewood Scrub, about 40 years ago. The late Mr. Duhs came to Peachester, and for years engaged in farming. He interested himself in many public bodies. He advocated to the Government, without success, the possibilities of growing rice in swampy districts. The late Mr. Duhs married Miss Emma Kunowski, of the Logan, at Haigslea. Five daughters and three sons survive him. Mr. L. Duhs, a Nambour and district pioneer, is a brother. The interment took place at the Caboolture Cemetery.

THE LATE MR. F. C. DUHS.
Mr. Inigo Jones writes: The late Mr. F. C. Duhs was a Queenslander, born in Ipswich and not on the voyage from Europe. He was a very ardent worker in the cause of Labour and was very highly esteemed by men in high positions in the Party. His contributions were welcomed to the columns of the "Worker" by the editorial staff of which paper he was held in high esteem.
