Mr. Alfred A. Potter, of Newtown, Tumut, died at Temora Hospital last week, after a short illness. He was on a visit to his daughter, Mrs. Edward Lynch, and was admitted to the Temora Hospital to be operated on for an internal growth, succumbing after the operation. Deceased was 72 years of age and came to Tumut 40 years ago from Yass, where he was born. Of late years he has been resident in Sydney. A few weeks ago he returned to Tumut, and went from here to Temora. A widow and five daughters and three sons survive him. His widow and several members of the family were present at the funeral, which took place yesterday week, the remains being laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Temora cemetery, Rev. G. Hirst officiating.

Death of Mr. Alfred Potter
The death of Mr Alfred Augustus Potter, late of Tumut, took place on 12th January at Temora Hospital. Deceased was on a visit to his daughter, Mrs. E. Lynch, when he was overcome with a serious illness which required an operation, internal growth being the trouble. He was the youngest son of the late Captain Potter, 28th Reg. and grandson of the late Major Lockyer 57th Reg. He was a native of Yass, and was born at Cavan, near Yass, on April 30, 1849, which left him 71 years at his death. He leaves behind him a widow and five daughters and three sons viz.. Mrs. E. Lynch, Temora ; Mrs A. J. Day, Sydney; Arthur, Sydney; George, Tumut; Nicholas, Sydney; and Miss Edie, Tumut: Mrs. W. McDonald, Tumut; and the youngest being Mrs. George Butler, of Gilmore, Tumut; also there are two brothers, Messrs Charles G. Potter, hotel-keeper, Melbourne, and Mr. N. Potter, Sydney, and five sisters : Mrs. Jones, Sydney; Mrs. Brown, Sydney; Mrs Kullelea, Butterworth, Bondi, and Miss Martha, Snowden, Sydney. He also was a nephew of Mr. Nicholas Lockyer, just retired from the Customs. Deceased carried on farming and carrying. He married Martha, the second daughter of the late Harry Hoad. He also leaves 11 grandchildren. His remains were enclosed in a polished cedar coffin and laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the cemetery at Temora. Messrs Pratt Bros were the undertakers, and the Rev. Hirst, C. of E., read the service. His widow and several members of his family were present at the funeral.
