An old and highly respected resident of the Lowood district, Mrs. Mary Sailer, passed away on the night of April 26, at the age of 89 years. The late Mrs. Sailer was born at Kilkenny, Ireland, and came to Australia 61 years ago, at the age of 28 years, with her sister and brother (Bridget and James M'Grath), in the ship Rockcliff. She resided with her brother, William, in Ipswich, for some time, and after her marriage with Mr. Herbert Goodman they resided in New South Wales for a few years. While in the South Mr. H. Goodman died, and his widow returned to Ipswich. She later married Mr. Albert Sailer, who afterwards selected a homestead on the Tarampa Estate, near Lowood, where she had lived ever since, a period of 53 years. The late Mrs. Sailer leaves four children, Mrs. S. Jessop (Lowood), Mrs. Wenck (Kingaroy), Mr. W. Goodman (Lowood), and Mr. Joseph Sailer (Ipswich), 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her husband predeceased her four years ago.

OBITUARY

The death occurred on Wednesday night of Dr James William Christopher, of Harp road, East Kew. Dr. Christopher was born at Tarnagulla and he was educated at Scotch College and at the University of Melbourne from where he graduated in dental science. Later he went to the United States where he obtained the degree of doctor of dental science at the North Western University, Chicago. He practised for many years in the Kerang district and in Collins street, Melbourne. Dr Christopher was a trustee of the East Kew Methodist Church. A widow and five children survive him. The funeral will leave Harp road, East Kew, at 11 am today.
