WENCK group 1897
WENCK group 1897
WENCK family group 1897. This photo may have been taken at the time of the funeral for Emma Wenck née Wruck, wife of Carl, who died 23 Jan 1897. By the end of that year both Trinke and Gustav had died. Maureen Matthews owns the original which was very overexposed on those wearing white. Jennifer Crockett had the photo professionally retouched to reduce the overexposure. (See next photo for key to individuals)

Training camp at unknown location, possibly Greenbank. Adolph Wenck 2nd from left at rear. The location is unlikely to be Fort Lytton as the annual camp was held there at Easter. With two men wearing greatcoats, it was more likely winter time.
