Mr. Emil Meuli, of "Alpen Rose," Okaiawa, died at Palmerston North last week, after a short illness. He was on his return from Wellington. Mr. Meuli was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meuli, two of the pioneers of Hawera and Manaia, whose association with the district dates back 64 years.- He was an old boy of Wanganui Collegiate School and at his death, a vice-president of the Old Boys' Association. At school and in his home district he was prominent in Rugby football and with two brothers was in the 1914 Waimate team which won the Taranaki championship that year. He had one of the best-equipped dairy farms of the district and bred there two horses which have shown good form at various meetings.
