- Jackwitz-Zischke.
A wedding of wide interest was celebrated on June 20 at the Blenheim Baptist Church by Reverend W. Holmans, the parties being Mr. August Jackwitz, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jackwitz, Blenheim, and Miss Minnie Zischke, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zischke, Mt. Berryman. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, gowned in an ankle-length frock of bridal satin, the skirt being inlet with godets of silk lace. The bodice showed a front of lace finished with strappings of satin and diamante buckles, the sleeves were arranged with ruchings of lace and finished with buttons. An embroidered tulle veil, with coronet of orange blossoms, was also worn, and the bride carried a shower bouquet of roses, sweet peas, and asparagus fern, tied with satin ribbon. Miss Lou. Zischke attended her sister as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of blue crepe-de-chine, the skirt featuring two flounces and tucks, and the bodice relieved with mastic. She wore a bandeau of tulle and orange blossoms. Mr. E. Jacwitz was best man. The "Wedding March" was played by Mr. H. Woods.
After the ceremony the guests, numbering about 150, including relatives from Ipswich, Tarampa, and Helidon, motored to the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. H. Zischke received the guests wearing a gown of brown morocain, relieved with mastic and hat to tone. Mrs. P. Jackwitz chose brown crepe-de-Chine, relieved with lace and hat of the same tonings.
The wedding breakfast was laid in the large latticed dining room, which was decorated with streamers of blue and white paper and wattle blossom. The chief feature at the bride's table was a beautiful three-tier wedding cake made by Mrs. W. H. Pitt and decorated by Mr. A. Mann, of Laidley. Over this hung a large wedding bell, lent by Mrs. M. King. After the usual toasts had been honoured, Rev. W. Holmans, referred in glowing terms to the character of the newly-married couple, and wished them Godspeed and success in their new surroundings. Cr. Schluter also spoke of the sterling qualities of the parents of both bride and groom, also the two grandmothers, present at the breakfast. The guests were entertained in the afternoon with musical items and games, and at dark a merry band of tin rattlers arrived, some in fancy dress. The bridal couple left by car for Toowoomba, where a short honeymoon will be spent before they settle in their new home at Laidley Creek West. The bride wore a travelling frock of blue crepe-de-Chine, with beige mariette trimming, showing hand-embroidery, and beige crinoline hat, trimmed with pink and blue rosebuds.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a string of crystals and to the bridesmaid a gold brooch. A number of presents were received from relatives and friends. [5]
