- Cecil began as a pupil teacher at Taabinga village school in October 1923 at the age of 13 years. His father was the head master. Cecil was the head teacher at Imbil in 1958 when Malcolm Colston taught there. He was the principal of Stafford Heights State School in 1973. Other places he taught include Sarina, Longreach and Texas.
