    • Obituary.-- Mr. John Michael Bennett, a well known and respected resident of the district, died at his residence here on Tuesday after an illness extending over sixteen months caused through a growth on the tongue, the actual cause of death being septic poisoning. He had been confined to his bed since the beginning of the year. The deceased, who was the third son of Mr. J. B. Bennett, of Narracoorte, and was 58 years of age, was born at Mount Gambier, and on attaining manhood he followed farming pursuits in the Millicent district for a number of years. He also lived in Nhill, where he was also engaged in work on the land for a few years, and came from there to Narracoorte, and had resided in this district ever since. He followed mainly contracting work for the District Council and the Government since coming here. About 46 years ago he was married to Miss Elizabeth McGregor, who survives him, with five children, viz., Mrs. G. G. Burford and Miss A. M. Bennett (Narracoorte), and Messrs. J. E. Bennett (Elderslie), W. J. Bennett (Border Town), and A. G. Bennett (Nhill). There are also four grand children. His remains were interred in the Narracoorte cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the funeral arrangements being in the hands of Messrs. Platt Bros.
