      Our Lowood Letter.
      [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
      THE GRIM REAPER
Visited the district last Saturday, when Mrs. Amelia Litzow, wife of Mr. William Litzow, farmer, and eldest daughter of Mrs. F. Jackwitz, died, aged thirty-three years. The deceased was too weak to recover from her accouchement, which took place several days previously. Dr. Flynn was sent for from Ipswich, and all was done to restore the patient, without avail, and she passed away at 8 a.m. on the 30th ultimo; the infant also died. There are five young children left to mourn their lost mother, and much sympathy is felt for the bereaved family. The funeral took place on Sunday morning, in the German Baptist cemetery, between Lowood and Fernvale. There were over 100 people waiting at the cemetery for the arrival of the mournful cortege, which comprised a procession a quarter of a mile in length, residents from all around the district being present to show their respect to the departed and their sympathy with the bereaved. There were twenty-six vehicles, some twenty horse-men, and about 150 pedestrians, the procession being the largest ever seen here, there being upwards of 300 persons on the ground when the burial service commenced. The ceremony was conducted by Mr. M. Feldtham, and its impressiveness was such that many were in tears while the hymns for the mournful occasion were being chanted. Mrs. Litzow was much respected by a large circle of friends and neighbours.
