    • MR. C. F. W. LITZOW TARAMPA.-The district lost one of the last of its pioneers with the death on December 29 of Mr. Christian Frederick Wilhelm Litzow, at the age of 87 years. The late Mr. Litzow came to Queensland from Germany with his parents when he was four years old. He spent most of his boyhood days in the Nudgee and Red Hill districts of Brisbane. Many and varied were his reminiscences of early Brisbane and district. The late Mr. Litzow, in his youth, moved to the Vernor district, and there helped in rescue work during the disastrous 1893 flood. Later he moved to Tarampa, where he lived until his death. As a young man Mr. Litzow played a prominent part in local government affairs, being a member of the Walloon Shire Council for a number of years. He also was a keen supporter of local farmers' organisations and any other body formed to benefit the land owner. Because of failing health, however, he was forced to retire from active work. A man who had read widely, the late Mr. Litzow had a most retentive memory, and was able to converse freely on past and present world events until a few days before his death. He was a man of broad outlook and charitable nature. Mr. Litzow married twice. There were four sons of the first marriage and a daughter who pre-deceased him. Of the second marriage there were six sons and four daughters. A son and a daughter predeceased him. The late Mr. Litzow is survived also by 30 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A grandson was killed in action in World War II. Graveside rites at the Baptist Cemetery, Tarampa, were performed by Rev. Mr. Trewin.

    • WEDDING BELLS
A VERY pretty wedding took place at Tarampa at 11.30 a.m. on the 8th instant, the contracting parties being Mr. William Litzow, second son of Mr. C. F. W. Litzow, and Miss Luey Schroder, seventh daughter of Mr. William Schroder, Tarampa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. F. Schmidt, Baptist minister, of Minden. The bride was dressed in pink shot silk, trimmed with white satin and pearl beading, finished at waist with white silk sash; bodice with mitten flowers and white satin vest. The usual wreath and veil completed the toilet. The bridesmaids were Miss Amelia Marburg (first), who was dressed in cream cashmere, pink sash, and orange blossoms. Miss Augusta Litzow (second) wore an ash grey cashmere, green satin, and blue sash and spray of orange blossoms. The groomsmen were Messrs. Wilhelm Schroder (brother of the bride) and Adolph Schmidt. The gathering, which was a very large one, sat down to a splendid dinner, laid out in the good old German style. The Rev. Mr. Schmidt proposed the bride and bridegroom's health, which was responded to. The presents were numerous and useful. Games of the usual kind were played throughout the evening. The costumes were made by Miss A. Schmidt, Minden, and she deserves great credit for the taste displayed by her. Mr. B. Taylor, of the I.X.L. Studio, took several groups during the afternoon. [5]
