THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS.
Last Christmas Eve, it will be remembered, Mr. A. Schafferius, of Deep Gully, took ill and died very suddenly, leaving his widow and family in rather needy circumstances (says the 'Queensland Times.') Her neighbours and friends, however, set to work on her behalf, with a determination to raise sufficient money to clear off the mortgage remaining on her property. With the amount tendered by her relatives in this district, and public subscriptions cheerfully given this has almost if not quite been accomplished.
