      BENDIGO DUE TO-MORROW
Under the command of Captain F. N. Wyatt the Bendigo is due from Liverpool at 7 a.m. to-morrow, and will berth at the Hamilton Cold Stores. She will be moved to New Farm wharf at 6 a.m. on Friday, and to the Abattoir wharf on April 3. She will sail from there on her return journey to England at 4 p.m. on that day. A large complement of passengers will leave Brisbane in the liner.
The Bendigo left Liverpool on February 9 after leaving been in England for three weeks for drydocking. During that period she was completely examined and overhauled, all passenger accommodation being renovated and painted. On the voyage to Australia the Bendigo experienced calm seas and bright sunshine. On February 16 she arrived at Malta, and the passengers were charmed by the remarkable architecture, painting, and sculpture which are to be seen there. Ships of the Royal Navy in harbour at the time attracted great interest, especially the mighty aircraft carriers, H.M.S. Courageous and Furious, which were anchored close alongside the Bendigo.
Throughout the voyage the passengers took part in deck sports which were conducted on the American tournament system. The racecourse was very popular, and at all meetings the totalisator was working at full pressure. Treasure hunts, fancy dress dances, and competitions of every kind helped to amuse the passengers.
