- THOMPSON-SPILLER : At the Methodist Church, Mt Morgan, on December 14, by the Rev. M. Lee, Maureen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Spiller, Gympie, to Russell, only son of Mr and Mrs W. B. Thompson, Gympie.
WEDDING BELLS
THOMPSON-SPILLER
At noon last Saturday, a wedding of interest to friends in Gympie was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Mount Morgan (the church in which the bridegroom's parents were married). The Rev. M. Lee officiated. The bride was Miss Maureen Spiller, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Spiller, Pine Street, Gympie, and the bridegroom, Mr Russell Thompson, only son of Mr and Mrs W. S. Thompson, Alfred Street, Gympie.
The bride was dressed in brocaded satin made with a bustle effect, and featuring a short train. She wore a wreath and veil, lent by her sister-in-law, Mrs S. Spiller, of Gympie, and she carried a dainty cascade bouquet of stephanotis and frangipanni, tied with satin ribbon. She entered the church to the strains of the Wedding March, and Mr J. Ellemor, in the absence of her father, gave her away.
Miss Marjorie Thompson, sister of the bridegroom, attended as bridesmaid. She wore a long green satin frock with a nasturtium coloured sash and a green tulle veil finished with a posy. She carried a pretty shower bouquet of red ixora, gerberas, and lilyput zinnias tied with nasturtium red ribbon. Mr H. Stock, uncle of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man.
The church was prettily decorated with frangipanni and greenery and the organ was played by Mrs M. Lee. After the ceremony the wedding luncheon was held at the residence of the bridegroom's grandparents, Mr and Mrs L. G. Stock, Cornes Street. The Rey. M. Lee presided and the customary toasts were honoured. The guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a matellasse frock with a hat to match and who carried a bouquet of Hadley roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a frock of floral georgette with a small white hat and she also carried a posy of Hadley roses.
Subsequently Mr and Mrs Thompson left by car for Rockhampton. Their future home will be in Mount Morgan. [2, 3]
