      Embarked Hamburg 6 Nov 1878 on board 'Charles Dickens'; disembarked Keppel Bay 26 Feb 1879.
      On her second voyage to Queensland (first in 1877) the 'Charles Dickens' left Hamburg 6.11.1878 with Surgeon-Superintendent Dr. Thon, Matron Miss Drohun and 457 immigrants - full paying 13, assisted 29, free 388, free nominated 25, remittance 1, stowaway 1.

      Wencks listed as free nominated.  (Anna, sister of Reimer was already in Queensland.  She married Heinrich Thomas Jurgensen, born Fohr Island. They sailed to Australia on board the 'Humbolt' in 1870.)

      Arrived Keppel Bay 26.2.1879 - visited by immigration agent & govt. medical officer Dr. Salmond - quarantine not necessary.  Passengers transshipped to the 'Lady Bowen' about midnight 28 February en route from Gladstone to Rockhampton.  Brought up river and landed at wharf at 6am Saturday 1 March 1879.
      Dr. Salmond instructed that two large tents be erected in the Immigration Depot as temporary accommodation for those who could not find room in the building.

    • MRS. M. L. A. PRUFERT, LAIDLEY, November 9.
      At the Lockyer General Hospital on October 29 the death occurred of Mrs. Mathilde Louisa Amalie Prufert, widow of the late Mr. Paul Prufert. The late Mrs. Prufert, who was 74 years of age, came to Australia as a child. With her husband, she was engaged in farming at Summer Holm for 30 years, and eight years ago came to live in retirement at Railway-street, Laidley. The late Mrs. Prufert was well known throughout the district, where her kindly, hospitable disposition made her many friends. Her husband died about a year ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mesdames P. Lynam (Brisbane), and August Kraut (Laidley), and two sons, Messrs. Walter and Gilbert Prufert, of Summer Holm. In addition there are 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mr. E. A. F. Wenck (Brisbane, formerly of Laidley) is a brother.

      Driving Accident.

      An accident befel Mrs. P. Prufert while driving yesterday. [7 Nov 1922] Mr. Prufert was adjusting the winkers, when the horse took fright and bolted. Mrs. Prufert was thrown from the sulky, and received a fracture of the left leg and right forearm. The Lockyer Ambulance Brigade rendered first aid. [9]

      SILVER WEDDING.
      The silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. P. Prufert, two well-known residents of Summer Hill, was celebrated on Saturday evening, the 23rd April. There were some 40 members of the family and relatives present, besides numerous friends. A most enjoyable time was spent by all, dancing being the principal amusement, whilst card-playing and other games were also indulged in. Tea was served in a large bush-house about 7 p.m., and the eatables were of the choicest description. Mr. W. Relles presided, and in an appropriate speech proposed the health of Mr. and Mrs. Prufert.  Mr. E. Wenck, of Prenzlau, acknowledged the compliment on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Prufert. Mr. X. Oberle and many others present spoke of the esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Prufert are held by their numerous friends. The following is a list of the presents received:--Mr. and Mrs. E. Mrs. Prufert was attired in a costume of black striped Khantona cloth, trimmed with black braid and buttons, the bodice relieved with yoke of cream silk lace. The dress was made at the establishment of Miss L. E. Storr, of Laidley.
