    • MR. A. E. OLIVE

      A well known resident of Casino, who also lived for many years in Lismore district, died at his home this week in the person of Mr. Arthur Edward Olive, aged 60. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Olive, two of the early arrivals on the North Coast. He is survived by a widow and two sons and one daughter. The sons are Messrs. Edward and Ivan Olive (Casino), and Mrs. W. Hanley (of Casino) is the daughter. The funeral in the Church of England cemetery was attended by a large and representative gathering. Archdeacon Lampard conducted the service.

      The late Mr. Olive was born at Southgate, in the Clarence River district, and came to the Richmond River district when he was five years old. He resided in Casino for the past 12 years. In the early days he was a mail contractor, and carried the mail from Tenterfield to Tabulam. At other times he had the mail contract for Chatswood to Woodburn and Casino to Lawrence. Brothers of deceased are Messrs. John Olive (North Lismore), J. T. Olive (Evans Head), Alexander Olive (Mullumbimby), and Albert Olive (Ipswich, Qld.); sisters of deceased are Mesdames O. Richards, E. White, H. Johnston and W. Hovell, all of Sydney. Deceased was a member of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows for more than 40 years, and was employed for some years in Lismore by Mr. C. Balzer, senr.
