    • The funeral of the late Mrs Harriet Matilda McKay, relict of the late Alexander McKay, of "Wattle Grove," Deans Marsh, whose death was announced in our last issue, took place on Thursday afternoon and was well attended. Deceased was a native of Derrimut, near Werribee, and the greater part of her 61 years were lived at Deans Marsh, and by her death the residents of the district have lost one who was always looked to for advice. There were a large number of floral tributes. Her husband predeceased her only a fortnight ago and sincere sympathy is extended to the family in their sad bereavement. Her body was encased in a polished casket and was laid to rest in the family allotment in the Presbyterian portion of the Whoorel cemetery. The bearers were Messrs E. Smith, T. Powell, Jas Clissold, and Sam Clissold; the pall being supported by Messrs Sam McKay, Jno. McKay, Jos. McKay, Alex. McKay, Hugh McKay, George McKay (sons of deceased), S. Smith, G. Atkins, W. Hunt and W. Bush. The Rev. J. H. Mitchell held a service at the home prior to the cortege leaving, and also officiated at the grave. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr George James.
