      SAILOR'S SUICIDE.
On February 27, during the voyage of the P. & O. steamer Ballarat, which arrived from London on Monday [3 March], one of the ship's crew, a foreigner named Sankowski, committed suicide by jumping overboard. The captain was at once informed, and the ship was hove to, and steamed back two miles. After searching for half an hour the Ballarat proceeded on her voyage to Port Adelaide. At the time of the incident a fresh gale was blowing and a heavy sea was running. Sankowski was working his passage to Australia as a steward.
