    • OBITUARY
      Mr A McIntyre
By the death of Mr Archibald McIntyre, on Thursday morning one of the earliest residents of Tungamah passed away. The late gentleman was a man possessed of an exceptionally strong constitution, and his somewhat sudden death came as a great shock to his numerous friends and acquaintances. Pneumonia was the cause of his demise. For several years Mr McIntyre followed mining pursuits with varying success at Wood's Point and many other parts of the State. Afterwards he commenced hotel keeping, and came to Tungamah in 1883 as licensee of the Tungamah Hotel. Some years later he built "Mac's" Commercial hotel now conducted by his daughters. "Mac" was well known throughout, we might say, the whole of the North-eastern district, and his death is deeply regretted. During the lengthy period he resided in Tungamah he liberally supported any movement that had for its object the welfare of the town and district. At the time of his death he was 69 years of age, and he leaves a widow and three daughters to mourn his loss. The funeral, which took place last Friday, in the Tungamah cemetery, was largely attended. The Rev Mr Jones conducted the burial service, and Messrs Farr Bros had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
