      NEAR ROADWAY
      Body Found
      CAR SALESMAN

Mervyn Heyes Atkins, 48, a well-known city car accessory salesman, was today found shot dead at the side of Prince's Highway, Loftus.
A double-barrelled shotgun, with one barrel discharged was lying at his side. Atkins had been driving a car. He pulled in at the side of the road, in National Park, and there the fatal shot was fired. His hat, which had been blown on to the roadway, attracted the attention of motorists, who alighted and found the body. Atkins had then been dead only a few minutes.
Sergeant Taper (Sutherland), after making inquiries, with the Sutherland Ambulance, took the body to the city morgue.
Atkins was a married man with a family. Sergeant Taper and Constable Sowter have been unable to find a motive for the shooting.
