Notes |
- Christina McIntyre married three times. She ran pubs and was a good organiser. Once Ned Kelly came in to the pub and for a joke put his helmet on her - she was then famous.
The licence for the Racecourse Hotel in Benalla (now gone) was transferred to Christina in 1879 on the death of her husband Duncan McIntyre who had acquired the licence in 1878. In 1883 in the Insolvency Court she said she had carried on the business for 2 years but business had fallen due to the decrease in traffic on the Shepparton Road and that she had given up everything.
According to the Benalla rate books, Duncan had the hotel and 80 acres in 1878 and in 1882 his wife Christina had the hotel and 105 acres.
