    Notes
    • In March 1915, Violet and her son Ronald left Liverpool, England aboard the "Medic" bound for Sydney, Australia. Ronald's age was given as 6 years and Violet's 23. They both travelled under the surname Hennings. On the passenger list their country of last permanent residence was given as Ireland. (Source findmypast.com) Violet was born in Dublin and she may have been staying with relatives there with her young son. There is no evidence Violet was married to Ronald's father, Philip Hennings, who already had a wife at the time of Ronald's birth. Violet claimed her first husband was a fighter pilot who died in WW1 but this is not true. Philip Alfred Hennings died  in England in 1951.

In 1923 Violet married Svend Haunstrup in Manly, Sydney and her surname at the time was Griggs. I don't know who this Mr Griggs was, but it wasn't Selby P Griggs.

      MOTOR-BOATS ON ALBERT PARK LAKE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE ARGUS.
Sir,-Dr Murray Morton's letter calls for  approbation and endorsement. Although  living in Toorak, I endure the same ear-torturing shrieks from motor-boats on the river, and I can safely say that I have  never experienced anything more sleep-destroying or nerve-racking. I suggest that  the elderly philanthropists mentioned in Mr. W. H. Worley's letter show their philanthropy by repressing their boyish  delight in the joys of out-boarding by withdrawing their ear-splitting craft from the  lake, thus enabling unfortunate patients in neighbouring private hospitals to enjoy the tranquillity necessary to their satisfactory  progress and ultimate recovery. It is significant that the correspondents who favour this type of aquatic amusement address their correspondence from West Melbourne, Coburg and Ivanhoe. Presumably after a noisy hour or two on the lake they are glad to retire to the comparative peace of the suburbs mentioned.- Yours &c.,
