Obituary. -- Wondai sustained the loss of one of its highly-respected pioneer citizens by the death of Mr. Andrew McLucas, who passed away in Brisbane on Wednesday last. The late Mr. McLucas at the time of his death was chairman of the Wondai Shire Council, which position he had held for a number of years. Besides his interest in council affairs Mr. McLucas was an ardent supporter of all movements for the advancement of the town and district. He and his family were a tower of strength to the Greenview Presbyterian Church for the past 20 years. The deceased leaves a sorrowing wife, three daughters, Mesdames J. Wenck (Monto), T. Christensen (Greenview), Graham (Dallarnil), and three sons, Messrs. A., J., and E. McLucas (all of Greenview district). The mortal remains of the late Mr. McLucas were conveyed to Wondai by train and laid to rest in the Wondai cemetery on Friday afternoon.

      FASSIFERN DISTRICT.
      MILBONG.
      Thursday.
Late Mr. A. McLucas.--Mr. Andrew McLucas, who died recently, was born at Ipswich on September 10, 1864. His boyhood and early manhood was spent in Milbong. His marriage to Miss Manthilda Augusta Amanda Wieland took place at Ipswich in 1886. Later he selected property at Greenview where he took up residence in 1901, being joined by his wife and young family (then three daughters) on June 9, 1902. There he lived till his death. When he took up residence at Greenview the railhead was at Goomeri, and he conducted a postal receiving office at his residence from 1903 till 1906. Outstanding in his public activities was his work in the local authority sphere. When the development of the district warranted representation he was the first Wondai's choice on the Kilowan Shire Council (then known as Divisional Board). He did not seek membership on the first Wienholt Council (operating in the present Wondai and Murgon Shire areas), but was elected during the second term, and remained a member until the area was divided. Then he became a foundation member of Wondai Shire Council, and, with the exception of the terms 1923-1926, when he did not seek election, was continuously a member. During most of the period he was Chairman, which office he held to the time of his death. He never sustained defeat at a local authority election and he represented at various periods the four divisions of Wondai Shire. In addition to his widow, he is survived by four daughters, Sarah Ann (Mrs. J. V. T. Wench, Jambin, via Rockhampton), Mathilda Mabel (Mrs T. Christensen, Cushnie), Beatrice Eveline (Mrs. G. Graham, Dillarnil), Ethel May (Mrs. W. Graham, Dillarnil), and three sons, Messrs. W. A., J. S., and E. L. McLucas, of Greenview. There are also 30 grandchildren. There are also two brothers, Joseph, of Murgon, and John, of Milbong. While a resident of Milbong and Coulson district he carried out many well-boring contracts.
