    • TEAMSTER'S FATAL FALL FROM TRUCK
      MACKAY, Wednesday.

John Edward Smith (52) fell from a truck and was killed, when he was returning to Eungella early this morning.

Smith was a well-known teamster on the range, and for a number of years had carried out contracts for the Forestry Department. He came to town on Monday, and commenced the return journey with the truck on Tuesday night. A stay was made at Finch Hatton, and later in company with Albert Willet he left for the top of the range. Turning the bend before entering the last pinch Smith by mischance fell from the truck, and one of the double sets of wheels passed over him. He was terribly crushed about the chest and head, and died shortly afterwards.
