Obituary.-There passed away on July 10, at the residence of Mrs. F. Hermann, Minden, Mrs. Augusta Schmidtchen (formerly Mrs. Wruck), at the age of 89 years. Born in Germany, the late Mrs. Schmidtchen came to Queensland over 50 years ago with her husband, Mr. August Wruck, engaging in dairying and farming pursuits at Minden, where, with the exception of a brief stay at Marburg and nine years at Coominya, she resided till her death. At the age of 70 she married Mr. W. Schmidtchen, who died some years ago. The late Mrs. Schmidtchen was in good health and retained her faculties till a few weeks ago, when she was taken ill. She expressed a desire to be put under the care of Mrs. Herrmann, who tended her to the last. She is survived by five sons, Messrs. Charlie Wruck, of Mundubbera; Herman Wruck, of Murgon; Jack Wruck, Toogoolawah; Henry Wruck, Coominya, and Mr. Albert Wruck. There are 25 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. "Granny," as she was familiarly called, was well-known and respected by a wide circle of friends, who sent numerous floral, tributes. Prior to the funeral leaving the residence of Mrs. Herrmann, Pastor Doehler conducted a short service. The remains were interred on July 12 in the Lowood Lutheran Cemetery, where Pastor Doehler conducted an impressive funeral service in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. At the graveside "Granny's" favourite hymns were sung.
