    • A RECENT WEDDING.

A quiet but pretty wedding took place at St. Mary's Church, Ipswich, on the 3rd ultimo. Monsignor Byrne was the celebrant of the marriage, the parties being Mr. August Kraut (fifth son of Mrs. Kraut, Laidley), and Miss Gertrude Elfreda Thresa Prufert (second youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prufert, "Rosedale," Summer Hill). After the ceremony the bridal party motored to Whitehead's studio, where they were photographed. Thence they adjourned to the Cafe Whitehouse, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of. The table was most beautifully arranged, and opposite the bride and groom was a beautiful two-tier wedding cake.

The bride, who was given away by her mother, looked charming in a handsome frock of white crepe-de-chene and georgette, lightly beaded, with open sleeves finished at waist, with sash of tassels, and she carried a choice satchel of crepe-de-chene, studded with beads and tassels. She also wore the orthodox wreath and veil arranged in mob cap style. She was attended by Miss Schlecht (Brisbane), who was attired in a pretty frock of white cotton voile, with inlet of filet insertion. The skirt was arranged with tucks, and she wore a black and pink tulle hat, trimmed with tiny red roses. Both bride and bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets, with streamers, which were made and presented by Miss M. Duncan (Laidley) and Mrs. Porter (Brisbane).

The bride's mother wore a black coat and skirt, relieved with vest and collar of cream net and real filet, and small black hat, with a touch of gold. The bridegroom was attended by his brother (Mr. B. Kraut). The bride's present to the bridegroom was a gold watch-chain; whilst the bridegroom's present to the bride was a beautiful necklet set with pearls and rubies; and to the bridesmaid a gold band ring. The bride's mother presented to the bride, besides her household linen, a handsome set of toilet brushes, and to the bridegroom a pair of military brushes.

The happy pair left by the afternoon train for Toowoomba, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride's travelling dress was of cream crepe-de-chene, V-front, with deep collar, trimmed with beading of shadow lace, the skirt being arranged with high waist effect, with pleats and buttons at side, which was designed and made by the bride's mother. The bride wore a handsome pale pink tulle hat, trimmed with ivy leaves and ribbon.

The bride's wedding dress and the bride's mother's dress were the work of Miss Storr, and reflected much credit on that lady's skill. [4]
