    • A kitchen tea was given by Mrs. W. Hermann on Saturday evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. Goodman, Lowood, in honour of her niece, Miss Hilda Goodman, who will shortly be married to Mr. Walter Pointing (writes our Lowood correspondent). A large number of guests were present. Dancing, cards, and singing were enjoyed, and a happy time was spent. A large number of useful gifts were presented. During the evening Mr. J. W. Huston, on behalf of the guests, thanked Mrs. W. Hermann, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Goodman, for the splendid way in which they had been entertained, and for the happy time spent. He wished the intended bride and bridegroom every happiness and prosperity in their new life. Mr. W. Pointing responded, and thanked them all for their good wishes and useful presents.

    • POINTING-GOODMAN. On June 6, at St. Brenda's Roman Catholic Church, Lowood, a very pretty marriage was solemnised by Rev. Father Concannon, when Mr. Walter Pointing, sixth son of Mr. James Pointing, and Miss Hilda Goodman, third daughter of Mr. W. Goodman, were united in the bonds of matrimony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of ivory crepe-de-chine trimmed with silver and pearl beads, panels and underbodice of radium lace. The pretty veil was arranged in mob cap style with fan at back, and a spray of orange blossoms at side. Miss Kate Goodman was bridesmaid, and Miss Irene Zernike was flower girl. Each wore a dress of pink crepe-de-chine trimmed with pink and white beads, and Leghorm hats trimmed with pink silk ribbon and wreaths of flowers. The best man was Mr. Robt. Pointing. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold cross and chain, and to the bridesmaid and flower girl a gold brooch each, together with the lovely bouquets of flowers and basket of flowers. The church was beautifully decorated by Misses Mulcare, Hasted, and an aunt of the bride. Miss Mulcare played the Wedding March on the organ. The wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride's parents, in the barn. The decorations were beautiful, and carried out in pink, green, and violet artificial flowers, the work of Mrs. T. Hermann. A beautiful three-tier wedding cake adorned the table. It was baked by the bride's mother. The wedding presents were numerous and costly. The bride's travelling dress was of brown morocain, trimmed with shot beads, and a hat to match of brown and gold. The bride's mother wore a dress of black silk taffeta trimmed with white beads and black satin hat with gold mount at side and black ostrich feathers. The mother of the bride- groom wore a dress of brown grenadine beautifully embroidered in black, with hat to match with black feathers at side. After the breakfast dancing commenced, and was continued until the early hours of next morning. Mr. G. Beduhn carried out the duties of M.C. Excellent music was supplied by Mr. O. Bernike, accordeon, and Mr. E. Weise, violin. [4]
