      WEDDING BELLS
      NUENDORF-GOODMAN
A pretty wedding took place at Mr. W. Goodman's residence on the 10th May last, the contracting parties were Miss Mary Ellen Goodman, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Goodman, of Lowood, and Mr. Arthur  Neuendorf, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Neuendorf, of Tarampa. A large gathering of relatives assembled to witness the marriage, which was performed under a beautiful wedding bell which, with other decorations, was arranged in the large dining hall between house and kitchen. The Rev. Symonds, of Brisbane, was the officiating clergyman. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids-Miss Agnes Goodman (sister of the bride), as chief, and Miss Elsie Herman (cousin), whilst Mr. Arthur Litzow acted as best man and Mr. Edward Herman as groomsman. The bride wore a white crepe-de-chene dress, made with floating panels, hand embroidered, and wreath and veil, arranged mob cap style. The chief bridesmaid was gowned in a shell pink crepe-de-chene, made in pinafore effect, richly embroidered on bodice and hem of skirt, with black cashmere-de-sio hat, with swathed crown and lined with pink crepe-de-chene. The trimming consisted of silver tinsel braid, worked in pretty design on brim, with glazed ribbon arranged on brim, crown and draped loops falling at side, with bunch of pink grapes in front. The second maid also wore shell pink crepe-de-chene, with hat en suite. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a three-stone diamond dress ring, and gold necklet, set with pearls, and to the bridesmaids he gave gold wish-bone brooches, set with brilliants. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a silver shaving outfit. The bride and her maids carried beautiful bouquets made and presented by Mrs. F. Herman (aunt of bride), who was also responsible for the handsome wedding bell and other floral decorations. The invited guests numbered 150. After the ceremony they adjourned to the spacious barn, where the wedding breakfast was laid out in a most artistic manner. The chief ornament was a lovely three-tire wedding cake. The cake was made by the bride's mother, and beautifully iced and ornamented with different lucky emblems by Mr. Walter Grant, Lowood. Rev. Symonds occupied the chair, and in a happy speech, proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, which was accorded musical honours. The whole of the catering was carried out by the bride's mother and Aunt Herman, assisted by Mesdames Beduhn, W. Manz, and MsNally, and reflected great credit on their culinary skill. The presents were numerous and costly, including several cheques. At night the happy couple left for their future home at Tarampa. The bride's travelling dress was navy blue silk, neatly braided, with hat to match. The bride's dresses were made by Miss Martha Neuendorf. The chief bridesmaid's dress was the work of Mrs. Burgdorf, and that of Miss Elsie Herman was made by her Aunt, Miss R. Herman. At 9 o'clock the barn was cleared for dancing, whilst others indulged in outdoor games. Mr. J. Sailer, of Ipswich, acted as M.C., and Mr. E. Weise and Mr. O. Zerineke supplied excellent music.
A week prior to the wedding, Mrs. F. Herman (aunt) gave a kitchen tea in honour of the bride elect. A great many invited guests met, and greatly enjoyed themselves In outdoor games, dancing, etc. All sat down to a splendid spread when full justice was done to the good things provided. The bride elect received many useful kitchen utensils and cheques. Before breaking up three hearty cheers were given Mr. and Mrs. Herman for their kind hospitality. [4]
