      Daye--Hughes.
Prettily decorated with tall arum lilies, statice, and blue lupins, St. John's Lutheran Church, Nicholas-street, was the scene of a charming wedding last Saturday evening, the parties being Miss Edna Hughes, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Hughes, and Mr. Alwyn Daye, second son of Mr. C. E. Daye and the late Mrs. Daye, Goodna. Pastor G. Dohler officiated, and Miss Ruth Dohler presided at the organ.

Given away by Mr. Arch. Freiberg the bride wore a beautiful gown of lacquered blistered taffeta, with a gathered bodice trimmed with tiny buttons, and featuring a heart-shaped neckline, set off with an Elizabethan collar. The full-length sleeves were shaped into a point over the hands, and the panelled skirt extended to form a long train. Her cut tulle veil was held in place by a pleated halo massed with lily of the valley, and she carried a shower bouquet of white. The three bridesmaids, Misses Winifred Kamp, Joyce Appleton, and Hazel Nunn, were frocked alike in midnight blue taffeta. Their ground length frocks featured a full waltz skirt, effectively trimmed with ruching and small pink and blue flowers. These trimmings were repeated on the tight-fitting bodices. Quite attractive were their blue hats of pleated organdi net with a crown of massed pink and blue flowers. They also wore drop pendants, the gift of the bride-groom, and carried shower bouquets in pink and blue tonings. The bride-groom was attended by Mr. Jim Donald as best man, and Messrs. Gordon Cafferky and Ronald Freiberg as groomsmen.

Blue and white formed the decorative scheme for the reception at the Memorial Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs. Arch. Freiberg and Miss Essie Daye. With her navy sheer frock Mrs. Freiberg wore accessories in tobacco yellow. Miss Daye's rose-pink romaine frock was charmingly set off with a large black hat. A feature at the tables was the four-tiered wedding cake, which had been beautifully iced by Mrs. A. Cronau. After the reception community singing and dancing were enjoyed.

The bride's travelling ensemble was of honey gold silk romaine, and she added a hat of the same colour. [5]
