Mr. Ludwig Wegner.
Mr. Ludwig Wegner (85), of Fordsdale, was among the first half dozen settlers of the upper valley. He came a little after Messrs. Ballard, Higgins, and John Curry. About 45 years ago he came from Germany, where he was a timber merchant, and began clearing the virgin scrub. Since then he has been engaged in general farming. Now his son, Mr. Rudolph Wegner, is carrying on the farm of 220 acres. For some time the old man's health has not been good. He has three sons and two daughters-Messrs. Julius Wegner (Kingaroy), William Wegner (Fordsdale), and Rudolph, and Mesdames W. Alton (Strathpine), and A. Turner (Wynnum West). Mrs. Wegner, sen., who is also very old, lives with Mrs. Turner.

MA MA CREEK.
An old pioneer of the Fordsdale district, Mt. Ludwig Wegner passed away at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. F. Kachel on February 27 (writes our correspondent). The late Mr. Wegner, who was 85 years of age, was a native of Germany. He arrived in this country with his wife in 1881. The voyage was made in the sailing ship Duke of Westminster. For the first two and a half years Mr. Wagner was employed on Tarampa Station, with Mr. Lord as manager. He moved to Upper Ma Ma Creek (now Fordsdale), when he selected land, and lived until a few years ago, when he retired, one of his sons taking over the farm. Besides his wife, there are three sons and three daughters left to mourn their loss. The daughters are: Mrs. Alton (Strathpine), Mrs. F. Kachel (Fordsdale), and Mrs. A. E. Turner (Wynnum). The sons are: Messrs. Julius (Kingaroy), Rudolf and William Fordsdale). The remains were laid to rest in St. Stephen's Anglican Cemetery, the last sad rites being performed by Rev. J. D. Anderson.
