- Henry George Wilton was a bigamist:
BIGAMY.
Henry George Wilton was charged with having committed bigamy on the 19th July, 1893, at Enoggera, by marrying Sophia Elizabeth Eva Trieschmann, his former wife-whose maiden name was Annie Mary Hunt, and to whom he was married on the 28rd December, 1892-being still alive. Accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to imprisonment in Brisbane Gaol for nine calendar months.

Alleged Bigamy.
A man giving the name of Henry George Manning Wilton was brought up at the City Police Court on Friday, before Mr. P. Pinnock, on the charge of having neglected to contribute to the support of his children.
In consequence of the inquiries made, he was further charged with having committed bigamy in marrying Sophia Trieschmann while he was the husband of another woman named Annie Mary Hunt, who was still living. Subinspector Nethercote prosecuted, and the defendant was undefended.
The following evidence was called for the prosecution:--
William Bennett, Bible Christian minister, resident at Enoggera, said he knew defendant by the name of Henry George Wilton. He also knew the woman Sophia Elizabeth Trieschmann, and remembered July 19 last, when he performed the ceremony of marriage between her and defendant, at 10 minutes past 7 o'clock in the evening. He produced a copy of a declaration which was signed by defendant after he had taken the oath.
Michael Higgins, living at Spring Hill, said he knew the defendant by the name of Henry Manning, and he witnessed a marriage between defendant and Mary Hunt at the house of Rev. Jas. Stewart, on December 23, 1892.
Robert Williams, registry clerk in the Registrar-General's office, produced the original certificate of marriage between Henry Mannay and Annie Mary Hunt. He produced also a certified copy of same.
Rev. James Stewart said he was a minister of the Presbyterian Church, and knew defendant whom he had seen at his (witness's) house by the name of Harry George Mannay. He also knew Annie Mary Hunt. On December 23 last he celebrated a marriage between the persons named. The ceremony was performed at a quarter past 7 o'clock at his (witness's) house.
Robert Williams, recalled, produced the original marriage certificate between Henry George Wilton and Sophia Elizabeth Eva Trieschmann.
Sophia Elizabeth Trieschmann testified to the marriage between herself and defendant.
By Defendant: Did I tell you about Miss Hunt ?
Witness: Not till after we were married.
Defendant: Did I tell you I saw her in George street, and she was living with another man?
Witness: I remember you telling me about seeing her.
Defendant: Did I tell you she went back to a man ?
Witness: Yes.
Mr. Pinnock: Were you aware that he was a married man at the time you were married, and that his wife was living ?
Witness : No, I was not.
Henry Trieschman said he was father of the previous witness. He knew defendant by the name of George Henry Reynolds. He also knew him as Wilton and Wilson. He was present on July 19 when defendant and his daughter were married.
This was all the evidence for the prosecution. Defendant being charged said he wished to ask Miss Hunt a few questions.
Mr. Pinnock said that person was not a witness neither could she be, and he therefore could not ask her questions.
Defendant said he did not wish to plead and was committed for trial at the next sittings of the Southern District Court, commencing on the 14th instant.
